Exterior & Security Checks

Inspect all doors and windows for signs of forced entry or tampering.

Check locks, shutters, and hurricane protection for integrity.

Examine the perimeter for signs of vandalism, trash, or unwanted activity.

Remove flyers, mail, or newspapers visible from the street to maintain an "occupied" look.

Inspect the roof, gutters, and downspouts for visible damage or debris.

Look for any signs of water pooling or erosion near the foundation.

Check exterior lighting (timers, motion sensors) for proper function.

Inspect patio furniture and decks for storm damage or salt corrosion.
Interior & Environmental Checks

Check the security alarm system to ensure it is set and functioning.

Confirm thermostat settings and HVAC operation (Listen for unusual sounds).

Check and record interior temperature and humidity levels to prevent mold.

Inspect ceilings, walls, and floors for water stains or mildew.

Visually check all windows and doors for signs of leakage or seal failure.

Inspect all rooms for rodent, insect, or pest activity.

Verify that all appliances (refrigerator, freezer) are functioning.

Run all faucets, flush all toilets, and check under sinks to verify drainage and prevent dry P-traps.

Check the water heater and accessible pipes for leaks or corrosion.
Systems & Utility Checks

Visually check the breaker panel for tripped circuits or unusual smells.

Inspect the garage and accessible storage areas.

Check the smoke/CO detectors for operational status (battery lights).

Verify that the main water valve is in the position requested by the owner (on/off).

Check all interior spaces for proper cleanliness and order (following any contractor or cleaning service access).

Check the condition and charge of any stored vehicle or recreational equipment.

Verify the security of all areas previously accessed by contractors or vendors.

Collect and check the mailbox, forwarding urgent mail and bringing in packages/deliveries as requested.
